But whatever way you go about it, its never an easy task to maintain this position.Whether you become a billionaire as self-made or you inherit your billions, it takes a lot of discipline and effort to maintain your position as a billionaire.Because its possible for billions to turn into millions through wasteful spending and bad business decisions. In most cases, people who are billionaires dont have their billions in cash and a single piece of negative news could wipe billions off their net worth in the stock market.Take as an example, Mark Zuckerberg once lost $20 billion out of his net worth in a few days due to Facebook privacy issues. This issue affected the company stocks negatively and in turn affected Marks too.Another trend youll see among any billionaires list is that tech b illionaires are increasing in numbers. More people are making their money online due to the internets popularity. The internet is one of the latest gold mines around and if youre looking for an opportunity to make your first billion, a groundbreaking idea on the internet could be your fast track.Having said that, doing traditional businesses is still bringing in billions. As you can see from this list, tech billionaires dominate with 3 out of 10.But the other 7 are from traditional businesses like shoes, cosmetics, fishing, property development, etc. Therefore, theres probably a way to make your billions from the work you currently do. If youre able to scale it to a big company.

In the end when he gets his old life back he learns to accept himself and love what he does have. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Finally, places and hangouts are also stereotyped. It may not seem that it matters to stereotype a nonliving thing, but it does. The different hangouts are said to be for different ââ¬Å"groupsâ⬠. And Iââ¬â¢d watch out if I were you. Because she has a temper.â⬠The last word was uttered in rising tones. Eric looked slightly alarmed-and crestfallen. Thea saw his throat move as he swallowed. Then, without saying good-bye to Blaise, he turned and walked out the far side of the corridor. Well by the Red Crow-headed Thunderbolt Goddess. Blaise turned around and stalked up the corridor in Theaââ¬â¢s direction. Thea didnââ¬â¢t even try to hide. ââ¬Å"So you saw all that. Well I hope youââ¬â¢re happy,â⬠Blaise said waspishly. Thea wasnââ¬â¢t. She was confused. Strangely agitated-and scared, because the Cup of Death was still floating before her eyes. ââ¬Å"I guess we should both just leave him alone/ââ¬â¢ she said. ââ¬Å"Are you kidding? Iââ¬â¢m going to have him,â⬠Blaise said. ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s mine. Unless,â⬠she added, eyes glittering, ââ¬Å"youââ¬â¢ve already staked a claim.â⬠Thea floundered, shocked. ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠¦ well noâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ââ¬Å"Then heââ¬â¢s mine. I like a challenge.â⬠Blaise ran a hand through her hair, disordering the black waves. ââ¬Å"Isnââ¬â¢t it nice that Gran has so many love charms in the shop,â⬠she mused. ââ¬Å"Blaiseâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ Thea had a hard time collecting her thoughts. ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t you remember what Gran said? If thereââ¬â¢s any more troubleâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ââ¬Å"There isnââ¬â¢t going to be any trouble for us,â⬠Blaise said, her voice flat and positive. ââ¬Å"Only for him.â⬠Thea walked to her next class feeling oddly empty. Ignore it, she thought. Thereââ¬â¢s nothing you can do. She didnââ¬â¢t see many Night People along the way to class. A young kid, probably a freshman, who looked like a shapeshifter; a teacher who had the hunting light of the lamia-the born vampires-in his eyes. No made vampires, no werewolves. No other witches. Of course, she couldnââ¬â¢t be certain. All the people of the Night World were masters of secrecy, of blending in, of passing unseen. They had to be. It was what allowed them to survive in a world where there were so many more humansâ⬠¦ and where humans loved to kill anything different. But when she was sitting in the world literature classroom, Thea noticed a girl in the next row. The girl was small-boned and pretty, with thick eyelashes and hair as black and soft as soot. She had a heart-shaped face-and dimples. But what caught Theaââ¬â¢s eye was the girlââ¬â¢s hand, which was playing with a pin on the girlââ¬â¢s blue-and-white-striped vest. A pin in the shape of a black flower. A dahlia. Thea immediately turned to a blank page in her notebook. While the teacher read a passage from the story Rashomon, Thea began drawing a black dahlia, tracing it over and over until it was large enough for the girl to see distinctly. When she raised her head, she saw the girl was looking at her. The girlââ¬â¢s lashes swept down as she looked at the drawing, then up again. She smiled at Thea and nodded slightly. Thea smiled and nodded back. After class, without any need to discuss it, Thea followed the girl to the front of the school. The girl looked around to make sure no one was in earshot, then turned to Thea with something like resigned wistfulness. ââ¬Å"Circle Midnight?â⬠she said. Thea shook her head. ââ¬Å"Circle Twilight. Arenââ¬â¢t you?â⬠The girlââ¬â¢s face lit up with shy delight. Her eyes were dark and velvety. ââ¬Å"Yes!â⬠she said and rushed on, ââ¬Å"But there are only two more of us-two seniors, I mean-and theyââ¬â¢re both Circle Midnight, and I was afraid to hope!â⬠She thrust out her hand, dimpling. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m Dani Abforth.â⬠Thea felt her heart lighten. The girlââ¬â¢s laughter was infectious. ââ¬Å"Thea Harman. Unity.â⬠It was the age-old greeting of the witches, the symbol of their harmony, their oneness. ââ¬Å"Unity,â⬠Dani murmured. Then her eyes widened. ââ¬Å"Harman? Youââ¬â¢re a Hearth-Woman? A daughter of Hellewise? Really?â⬠Thea laughed. ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢re all daughters of Hellewise.â⬠ââ¬Å"Yes, but-you know what I mean. Youââ¬â¢re a direct descendent. Iââ¬â¢m honored.â⬠ââ¬Å"Well, Iââ¬â¢m honored, too. Abforth is ââ¬ËAll-bringing-forth,ââ¬â¢ isnââ¬â¢t it? Thatââ¬â¢s a pretty impressive line itself.â⬠Dani was still looking awed, so Thea said quickly, ââ¬Å"My cousinââ¬â¢s here, too-Blaise Harman. Weââ¬â¢re both new-but you must be, too. Iââ¬â¢ve never seen you around Vegas before.â⬠ââ¬Å"We moved in last month, just in time to start school,â⬠Dani said. Her brow puckered. ââ¬Å"But it youââ¬â¢re new, what do you mean you havenââ¬â¢t seen me around?â⬠Thea sighed. ââ¬Å"Well, itââ¬â¢s kind of complicatedâ⬠¦.â⬠A bell rang. Both she and Dani looked at the school building in frustration, then at each other. ââ¬Å"Meet me here at lunch?â⬠Dani asked. Thea nodded, asked which way her French class was, and then flew off toward the other side of the building. She sat through her next two classes trying to actually listen to the teachers. She didnââ¬â¢t know what else to do. She had to concentrate to keep the image of gray-flecked green eyes out of her mind. At lunch, she found Dani sitting on the steps out front. You read "Night World : Spellbinder Chapter 3" in category "Essay examples" Thea settled beside her and opened a bottle of Evian water and a chocolate yogurt sheââ¬â¢d bought at the snack bar. ââ¬Å"You were going to explain how you know Vegas,â⬠Dani said. She spoke softly because there were kids everywhere in the front courtyard, sprawled in the sun with paper bags. Thea eyed a row of sago palms and felt herself sighing again. ââ¬Å"Blaise and I-our mothers died when we were born. They were twin sisters. And then both our dads died. So we grew up sort of moving around from relative to relative. We usually spend the summers with Grandma Harman, and we live with somebody else during the school year. But these last couple of yearsâ⬠¦ well, weââ¬â¢ve been in five high schools since we were sophomores.â⬠ââ¬Å"Five?â⬠ââ¬Å"Five. I think five. Isis knows, it could be six.â⬠ââ¬Å"But why?â⬠ââ¬Å"We keep getting expelled,â⬠Thea said succinctly. ââ¬Å"But-ââ¬Å" ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s Blaiseââ¬â¢s fault,â⬠Thea said. She was mad at Blaise. ââ¬Å"She does-things-to boys. Human boys. And somehow it always ends up getting us kicked out of school. Both of us, because Iââ¬â¢m always too stupid to tell them sheââ¬â¢s the one responsible.â⬠ââ¬Å"Not stupid, I bet. Loyal,â⬠Dani said warmly, and put her hand on Theaââ¬â¢s. Thea squeezed it, taking some comfort in the sympathy. ââ¬Å"Anyway, this year we were in New Hampshire living with our Uncle Galen-and Blaise did it again. To the captain of the football team. His name was Randy Marikâ⬠¦.â⬠When Thea stopped, Dani said, ââ¬Å"What happened to him?â⬠ââ¬Å"He burned the school down for her.â⬠Dani made a sound halfway between a snort and a giggle. Then she straightened out her face quickly. ââ¬Å"Sorry, not funny. For her?â⬠Thea leaned against the wrought-iron stair railing. ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s what Blaise likes,â⬠she said bleakly. ââ¬Å"Having power over guys, messing with their minds. Getting them to do things they would never ordinarily do. To prove their love, you know. But the thing is, sheââ¬â¢s never satisfied until theyââ¬â¢re completely destroyedâ⬠¦.â⬠She shook her head. ââ¬Å"You should have seen Randy at the end. Heââ¬â¢d lost his mind. I donââ¬â¢t think heââ¬â¢ll ever get it back.â⬠Dani wasnââ¬â¢t smiling anymore. ââ¬Å"Power like thatâ⬠¦ she sounds like Aphrodite,â⬠she said softly. And thatââ¬â¢s right, Thea thought. Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love who could turn passion into a weapon that brought the whole world to its knees. ââ¬Å"Remind me sometime to tell you what sheââ¬â¢s done to the other guys sheââ¬â¢s played. In a way. Randy was luckyâ⬠¦.â⬠Thea took a breath. ââ¬Å"So, anyway, we got shipped back here to Grandma Harman because there werenââ¬â¢t any other relatives willing to take us. They figured if Gran couldnââ¬â¢t straighten us up, nobody could.â⬠ââ¬Å"But that must be wonderful,â⬠Dani said. ââ¬Å"I mean, living with the Crone. Part of the reason my mom moved us here was that she wanted to study with your grandmother.â⬠Thea nodded. ââ¬Å"Yeah, people come from all over to take her classes, or to buy her amulets and things. Sheââ¬â¢s not always easy to live with, though,â⬠Thea added wryly. ââ¬Å"She goes through a couple of apprentices a year.â⬠ââ¬Å"So is she going to straighten Blaise up?â⬠ââ¬Å"I donââ¬â¢t think anybody can. What Blaise does-itââ¬â¢s just her nature, the way itââ¬â¢s a catââ¬â¢s nature to play with mice. And if we get in trouble again, Gran says sheââ¬â¢s going to send us to our aunt Ursula at the Connecticut enclave.â⬠ââ¬Å"The Convent?â⬠ââ¬Å"Yeah.â⬠ââ¬Å"Then youââ¬â¢d better stay out of trouble.â⬠ââ¬Å"I know. Dani, whatââ¬â¢s this school like? I mean, is it the kind of place where Blaise can keep out of trouble?â⬠ââ¬Å"Wellâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ Dani looked dismayed. ââ¬Å"Well-I told you before, thereââ¬â¢s only two other witches in our class, and theyââ¬â¢re both Circle Midnight. Maybe you know themâ⬠¦ Vivienne Morrigan and Selene Lucna?â⬠Theaââ¬â¢s heart sank. Vivienne and Selene-sheââ¬â¢d seen them going to summer Circles, wearing the darkest robes of any of the Circle Midnight girls. The two of them plus Blaise would makeâ⬠¦ well, a lethal combination. ââ¬Å"Maybe if you explain to them how important it is, they might help you keep Blaise under control,â⬠Dani said. ââ¬Å"You want to go talk to them now? Theyââ¬â¢ll be on the patio by the cafeteria-I usually eat with them there.â⬠ââ¬Å"Umâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ Thea hesitated. Talking to those two- well, she doubted it would help. But on the other hand, she didnââ¬â¢t have a better idea. ââ¬Å"Why not?â⬠On the way to the cafeteria, she saw something that made her stop dead. Taped to the stucco wall was a giant piece of butcher paper, painted orange and black at the margins. In the center was a grotesque figure: an old woman with a black dress, disheveled white hair, and a wart-covered, haglike face. She was straddling a broom and wearing a pointy hat. Lettering under the picture said coming OCTOBER 31 â⬠¦ THE ULTIMATE HALLOWEEN PARTY. Hands on hips, Thea said, ââ¬Å"When will they learn that witches never wore pointy hats?â⬠Dani snorted, her heart-shaped face surprisingly dangerous. ââ¬Å"You know, maybe your cousin has the right idea after all.â⬠Thea looked at her, startled. ââ¬Å"Well, they are an inferior species. You have to admit that. And maybe it sounds prejudiced, but then theyââ¬â¢re so prejudiced themselves.â⬠She leaned closer to Thea. ââ¬Å"You know, they even have prejudices against skin.â⬠She held out her arm. Thea looked at the flawless skin, which was a deep, clear brown. ââ¬Å"Theyââ¬â¢d think we were two different races,â⬠Dani said, pressing her arm against Theaââ¬â¢s tan one. ââ¬Å"And that maybe one was better than the other one.â⬠Thea couldnââ¬â¢t deny it. All she could say, feebly, was, ââ¬Å"Well, two wrongs donââ¬â¢t make a rightâ⬠¦.â⬠ââ¬Å"But three lefts do!â⬠Dani burst out, finishing the old witch carol. Then she dissolved into laughter and led Thea to the patio. ââ¬Å"Letââ¬â¢s see, they should be over thereâ⬠¦. Oh. Oops.â⬠Oops, Thea thought. Vivienne and Selene were at a secluded table on the far side. Blaise was with them. ââ¬Å"I should have known sheââ¬â¢d find them first thing,â⬠Thea muttered. From the way the three girls had their heads together, it looked as if trouble were brewing already. As Thea and Dani approached the table, Blaise looked up. ââ¬Å"Whereââ¬â¢ve you been?â⬠she said, waving a finger reproachfully. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ve been waiting to introduce you.â⬠Everybody said hello. Then Thea sat down and studied the other two girls. Vivienne had fox-red hair and looked tall even sitting down. Her face was animated; she seemed sparkling with energy. Selene was a platinum blond with sleepy blue eyes. She was smaller, and moved with languid grace. Now, how do I politely say, ââ¬Å"Please help me suppress my cousin?â⬠Thea wondered. She could already tell it wouldnââ¬â¢t be much use. Viv and Selene seemed to be under Blaiseââ¬â¢s spell already-they turned to her every other second as if checking for approval. Even Dani was watching Blaise with something like fascinated awe. Blaise had that effect on people. ââ¬Å"So we were just talking about guys,â⬠Selene said, twirling a straw languorously in her bottle of Snapple iced tea. Theaââ¬â¢s heart plummeted. ââ¬Å"Toyboys,â⬠Vivienne clarified in a lovely melodious voice. Thea felt the beginnings of a bad headache. No wonder Blaise is smirking, she thought. These girls are just like her. Sheââ¬â¢d seen it at other schools: young witches who seemed to flirt with breaking Night World law by flaunting inhuman power over boys. ââ¬Å"Arenââ¬â¢t there any of our kind of guys here?â⬠Thea asked, as a last hope. Vivienne rolled her eyes. ââ¬Å"One sophomore. Alaric Breedlove, Circle Twilight. Thatââ¬â¢s it. This place is a desert-no pun intended.â⬠Thea wasnââ¬â¢t really surprised. There were always more witch girls than guys-and nobody seemed to know why. More girls got born, more survived to grow up. And in some places the ratio was particularly unbalanced. ââ¬Å"So we just have to make do,â⬠Selene drawled. ââ¬Å"But that can be fun sometimes. Homecoming dance is this Saturday, and Iââ¬â¢ve got my boy all picked out.â⬠ââ¬Å"So,â⬠Blaise said, ââ¬Å"have I.â⬠She glanced at Thea significantly. And there it was. Thea felt her throat close. ââ¬Å"Eric Ross,â⬠Blaise said, savoring the words. ââ¬Å"And Viv and Sel have told me allll about him.â⬠ââ¬Å"Eric?â⬠Dani said. ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s the basketball star, isnââ¬â¢t he?â⬠ââ¬Å"And the baseball star,â⬠Vivienne said in her beautiful voice. ââ¬Å"And the tennis star. And heââ¬â¢s smart-he takes honors courses and works at the animal hospital, too. Heââ¬â¢s studying to get into U.C. Davis. To be a vet, you know.â⬠So thatââ¬â¢s why he cared about the snake, Thea thought. And why heââ¬â¢s got flatworms in his notebook. ââ¬Å"And heââ¬â¢s so cute,â⬠Selene murmured. ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s so shy with girls-he can hardly talk around them. None of us have gotten anywhere with him.â⬠ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s because you used the wrong methods,â⬠Blaise said, and her eyes were very smoky. Theaââ¬â¢s insides seemed hollow and there was a circlet of pain around her head. She did the only thing she could think of. ââ¬Å"Blaise,â⬠she said. She looked her cousin directly in the face, making an open appeal. ââ¬Å"Blaise, listen. I hardly ever ask anything of you, right? But now Iââ¬â¢m asking something. I want you to leave Eric alone. Can you do that-for me? For the sake of Unity?â⬠Blaise blinked slowly. She took a long drink of iced tea. ââ¬Å"Why, Thea, youââ¬â¢re getting all worked up.â⬠ââ¬Å"Ism not.â⬠ââ¬Å"I didnââ¬â¢t know you cared.â⬠ââ¬Å"I donââ¬â¢t. I mean-of course I donââ¬â¢t care about him. But Iââ¬â¢m worried about you, about all of us. I thinkâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ Thea hadnââ¬â¢t meant to say this, but she found the words spilling out anyway. ââ¬Å"I think he might have some suspicions about us. This morning he told me that I seemed so different from other girlsâ⬠¦.â⬠She managed to stop herself before she mentioned that heââ¬â¢d guessed she had healed him. That would be incredibly dangerous, especially since she didnââ¬â¢t know who Vivienne or Selene might blab to. Blaiseââ¬â¢s pupils were large. ââ¬Å"You mean-you think heââ¬â¢s a psychic?â⬠ââ¬Å"No, no.â⬠She knew he wasnââ¬â¢t a psychic. Sheââ¬â¢d been inside his mind, and he wasnââ¬â¢t from any lost witch family. He didnââ¬â¢t have any powers. He was as much a human as that snake had been a snake. ââ¬Å"Well, then,â⬠Blaise said. She chuckled, a rich, rippling sound. ââ¬Å"He just thinks youââ¬â¢re different-and thatââ¬â¢s hardly something to worry about. We want them to think weââ¬â¢re different.â⬠She didnââ¬â¢t understand. And Thea couldnââ¬â¢t explain. Not without getting herself into very hot water. ââ¬Å"So, if you donââ¬â¢t mind, weââ¬â¢ll just consider my claim staked,â⬠Blaise said courteously. ââ¬Å"Now, letââ¬â¢s see, what to do with the boys at the dance. First, I think we need to spill their blood.â⬠ââ¬Å"Spill what?â⬠Dani said, sitting up. ââ¬Å"Just a little blood,â⬠Blaise told her absently. ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s going to be absolutely vital for some of the spells weââ¬â¢ll want to do later.â⬠ââ¬Å"Well, good luck,â⬠Dani said. ââ¬Å"Humans donââ¬â¢t like blood-theyââ¬â¢re going to run like bunnies from you after that.â⬠Blaise regarded her with a half-smile. ââ¬Å"I donââ¬â¢t think so,â⬠she said. ââ¬Å"You donââ¬â¢t understand this business yet. If itââ¬â¢s done right, they donââ¬â¢t run. Theyââ¬â¢re scared; theyââ¬â¢re shocked; and they just keep coming back for more.â⬠Dani looked shocked herself-and still fascinated. ââ¬Å"But why do you want to hurt them?â⬠ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢re just doing what comes naturally,â⬠Blaise purred. I donââ¬â¢t care Thea thought, itââ¬â¢s none of my business. She heard herself say, ââ¬Å"No.â⬠She was staring at a pile of squashed napkins in her hand. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Blaiseââ¬â¢s exasperated expression. The others might not know what Thea was saying no to, but Blaise always understood her cousin. ââ¬Å"I asked you before if you wanted him,â⬠Blaise said. ââ¬Å"And you said you didnââ¬â¢t. So now youââ¬â¢re changing your mind? Youââ¬â¢re going to play him?â⬠Thea stared at her wad of napkins. What could she say? I canââ¬â¢t because Iââ¬â¢m scared? I canââ¬â¢t because something happened between him and me this morning and I donââ¬â¢t know what it was? I canââ¬â¢t because if I keep seeing him I have this feeling I might break the law, and I donââ¬â¢t mean the one about never telling humans that we exist; I mean the other one, the one about never falling in loveâ⬠¦. Donââ¬â¢t be ridiculous. That sort of thing is out of the question, she told herself. All you want is to keep him from ending up like Randy Marik. And you can do that without getting involved. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m saying I want him,â⬠she said out loud. ââ¬Å"Youââ¬â¢re going to play him?â⬠ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m going to play him.â⬠ââ¬Å"Well.â⬠Instead of snarling, Blaise laughed. ââ¬Å"Well, congratulations. My little cousin is growing up at last.â⬠ââ¬Å"Oh, please.â⬠Thea gave her a look. She and Blaise had been born on two different days-just barely. Blaise had been born one minute before midnight, and Thea one minute after. It was another reason they were so connected-but Thea hated it when Blaise acted older. Blaise just smiled, her gray eyes glinting. ââ¬Å"And, look-thereââ¬â¢s lover boy right now,â⬠she said, feigning elaborate surprise. Thea followed her nod and saw a figure with sandy hair and long legs at the other side of the patio. ââ¬Å"What luck,â⬠Blaise said. ââ¬Å"Why donââ¬â¢t you just walk over and ask him to the dance?â⬠How to cite Night World : Spellbinder Chapter 3, Essay examples

Single Adoption Essays - Family Law, Adoption Law,
Single Adoption Should Single Individuals be Allowed to Adopt There are some conflicts concerning whether or not single individuals are capable to adopt. This paper discusses why singles have the need to adopt. It also discusses some issues they may encounter when considering adoption. In addition, provided is my personal opinion as to why I believe single parents should be able to adopt. The desire to raise a family and nurture a child is common among both married couples and singles. Single individuals may wish to adopt a child in order to fulfill their need to nurture. They may feel as though their life may be incomplete and therefore consider adopting a child. One single commented ?I had a stable job and could give a child many benefits.? (About.com, 2000) Children are placed in orphan homes due to various reasons. Such reasons may include abuse, abandonment, neglect, homelessness or death. There is an extremely high amount of children who are in need of a stable home. For example, in 1998 there were 42,000 children in the New York City foster care. Of those 42,000, 6,500 children had parental rights terminated and were in pre-adoptive placements. Five hundred of those children had rights completely terminated and were in the need of a home. Approximately 8,000 children were expected to have their parental rights terminated. Therefore, they would become eligible to be put up for adoption. Many single individuals have an awareness that these children have needs and feel that they can provide a better life for them. A teacher commented, ?Because I continually saw children in my special education classes who live in institutions or went from foster home to foster home, I decided that even as a single parent I could do more for a child.? ( About.com, 2000) (About.com, 2000) (Feeney, 1998) There are many conflicts that singles face when they decide that they wish to adopt a child. These conflicts arise within their personal environment as well as within agencies and institutions. When a single decides that he or she wishes to adopt a child, friends and family members may suggest otherwise. Friends and family members may insist that the single is placing a burden on his or herself. They may question the single as to why they are considering such a responsibility. Many singles who consider adopting a child are well educated and have careers. Friends and family members may feel that it would interfere with one's personal responsibilities. They may also believe that the single is placing a burden on his or herself since they would be raising a single parent household. (About.com, 2000) Agencies and institutions may give singles a hard time with approving their request for adoption. Some agencies have certain policies in regards to single adoptions. Meanwhile, other agencies do not accept single applicants at all. Some biological factors concerning single parents have been emphasized by the media. Such factors describe single parents as being of low-income and struggling. These factors have become stereotypes for single men and women. However, according to the Committee For Single Adoptive Parents, many single parents do not fit this description. Many single parents within this organization are middle class. In addition, nearly half of its members are in good career fields such as: teachers and social workers. The majority of singles who request to adopt a child are college graduates and have earned postgraduate degrees. However, they still tend to be a minority while the majority of adoptive parents are couples. Therefore, singles in addition must compete with coup les who request adoption. Until the 1980s it was nearly impossible for a single male or female to adopt a child at any age. Single applicants were normally considered for the placement of children who needed much care and attention. Due to personal responsibilities singles may have difficulty caring for a child with disabilities and handicaps. Singles are normally adopt children who are disabled, handicapped or of a racial minority. Even when a single wishes to adopt an infant he or she normally adopts a child from another country. Singles basically adopt children who are in an urgent need of a home. Single males who adopt children encounter more difficulties as compared to female singles. Men have difficulty adopting a
